Him Before You.

POETRY FOR YOU.
Poem inspired by an earthly love; a desire to love man over our creator. Inspired by a period of life where the lust of another consumed every thought and action.
I woke up quenching for him and not you
While I search for the air you provide he’s immersing in my mind
Questioning thoughts start flooding in disregarding the new day that begins
My minds shifting from one thought to another I don’t give you even a mutter
You’re pounding on my heart, hey let me in
I ignore your voice and the helplessness begins
How foolish of me to deny your loving heart as mine seeks the wrong one from the start
My flesh presumes to desire him and him alone how could I leave you on your own
But he’s so perfect look at his charm my soul continues to disregards the safety of your arms
I move through life without your protection
Constantly longing for HIS affection how could I be so blind, while you’ve been seeking my attention
Leaving you behind became a daily thing
Until you had enough it made you insane
Happy and cheerful but not delighting in you, you wanted me to see clearly the work you could do
There you began striping me of all earthly things, you left me raw and vulnerable you wanted to break the chains
Heartbroken and confused my flesh and soul felt abused
The world I had created collapsed I began seeking closure of the past
But the door was shut you weren’t playing anymore you’ve worked hard for my heart the one you’ve always adored
I had no choice to cry out your name
As I felt hopeless still craving the same
You had my attention finally at last
Now focus on me and forget the past.
As I call out your name
The man I desired began to change
I saw you for who you were the one who suffered and the one who endured
You bared your life to save my own
I praise your name and call you home
You are my father, the highest of kings
How could I deny the joy you bring
You’ve given me eyes to see your grace
Now every morning I rejoice in your face
You’ve been seeking my heart for so long you needed me right where I belonged
You were tired of the devil having ownership over my heart when it was yours from the start
Thank you Jesus for making me new
Thank you Jesus,
I love you.
